The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel. Metallurgical Fire
Not a duff track on it, for some reason some of it reminds me of FOTN! It must be the dusty western influences? I'm looking forward to catching them live later this month dainton
Great post-black metal debut. It's hard to choose a favorite track, because the whole album is just amazing. Opprobre ram you down with some heave riffs, then they calm down using even pianos just to overhelm you with their power again. sfcr
The world is a better place for having this album in it. Great guitar and fantastic drums. Fits nicely along side Deafheaven in my collection. Recolour
